{"id":325,"date":"2012-03-27T16:26:41","date_gmt":"2012-03-27T08:26:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sysadmindayph.com\/blog\/?p=325"},"modified":"2012-03-27T16:27:44","modified_gmt":"2012-03-27T08:27:44","slug":"mounting-remote-filesystem-to-local-solaris-unix-box-nfs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.sysadmindayph.com\/blog\/mounting-remote-filesystem-to-local-solaris-unix-box-nfs\/","title":{"rendered":"Mounting Remote Filesystem To Local Solaris UNIX Box &#8211; NFS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Quick post on NFS and sharing filesystem from one server to another.<\/p>\n<p>Key files and commands for this activity:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\/etc\/dfs\/dfstab<\/li>\n<li>share (command)<\/li>\n<li>shareall<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The only problem I got in following the below instruction is Permission denied on the shared directory\/filesystem from the remote Solaris server.<\/p>\n<p>Temporary fix chmod to 777.. check for security later \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>To be able to share a remote filesystem you have to share the remote filesystem.<\/p>\n<p>To share the remote filesystem you need to modify<br \/>\nthe \/etc\/dfs\/dfstab file with<\/p>\n<p>share -F nfs -o rw \/var\/tmp\/oracle<\/p>\n<p>also modify the \/etc\/dfs\/sharetab with<\/p>\n<p>\/var\/tmp\/oracle nfs rw<\/p>\n<p>then issue<br \/>\nshareall<\/p>\n<p>make sure nfs daemon are running of the server<br \/>\nyou could check by isseing<\/p>\n<p>ps -ef | grep nfs<\/p>\n<p>if it is not running you could start nfsd by issuing \/etc\/init.d\/nfs.server start<\/p>\n<p>svcadm enable nfs<\/p>\n<p>on the client side, that is the side with no disk space<br \/>\nyou need to mount the remote filesystem you could do this by issuing<\/p>\n<p>mount (remote server):\/usr\/local \/mount_point<\/p>\n<p>Note:<br \/>\n\/var\/tmp\/oracle will be the filesytem you intend to share eg \/ \/usr\/local, \/var, \/export\/home<\/p>\n<p>so if you intend to share \/usr\/local your \/etc\/dfs\/dfstab will look like<\/p>\n<p>share -F nfs -o rw \/usr\/local<\/p>\n<p>and \/etc\/dfs\/sharetab will look like<\/p>\n<p>\/usr\/local nfs rw<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Quick post on NFS and sharing filesystem from one server to another.
